Docteur en anthropologie depuis janvier 2025, je situe mes travaux à la croisée de l’anthropologie de l’hindouisme et de la political ecology. Depuis une dizaine d’années, mes enquêtes menées dans la plaine gangétique (Uttar Pradesh) et le piémont himalayen (Uttarakhand) explorent les schèmes intellectuels et pratiques qui structurent les relations collectives à l’environnement, aux savoirs locaux et aux formes d’identité culturelle dans le monde hindou. Comment ces agencements participent-ils à la production d’éthiques environnementales où se conjuguent cosmologie religieuse et impératifs contemporains de préservation ? Les réponses apportées, au croisement d'une actualité indienne fortement politisée et d’un écologisme globalisé, mettent en lumière l’appropriation du référent écologiste par les nationalistes hindous au pouvoir depuis 2014, ainsi que les tensions et les ambiguïtés de la démocratie environnementale en Inde.

PhD in Anthropology (January 2025), my research lies at the intersection of the anthropology of Hinduism and political ecology. Over the past decade, my fieldwork in the Gangetic plain (Uttar Pradesh) and the Himalayan foothills (Uttarakhand) has explored the intellectual and practical frameworks that shape collective relationships to the environment, local knowledge, and cultural identity in the Hindu world. How do these configurations contribute to the emergence of environmental ethics that articulate religious cosmology with contemporary imperatives of preservation? Situated at the crossroads of a highly politicized Indian context and a globalized ecological discourse, my work sheds light on the appropriation of ecological rhetoric by Hindu nationalists in power since 2014, as well as on the tensions and ambiguities of environmental democracy in India.
